The balance between onshore and offshore

The balance between onshore and offshore
"There has been a lot of learning and a steep learning curve. Every day brings something new, and as time has passed, I have become more comfortable in my role and given more responsibility", says Athena Allaix who is one of DOF's project engineers.

This position is Athena's first job. As a newly graduated engineer from France, with a Norwegian mother who gave her a strong connection to Norway, Athena took a big step when she moved to Bergen. The enthusiasm for starting a career in a global company where she immediately felt at home was great.

Athena primarily works from the Bergen office, where she oversees the planning and coordination of our projects. Over the past year, she has also had the chance to travel offshore, providing her with fresh insights into her work.

"Every trip offshore brings me new experiences that I bring back to the office. Each time I'm at sea, I gain a deeper understanding of our operations," she says.

Project engineers do not follow a fixed rotation offshore, but they prefer to travel offshore when the project is active.

"It can feel daunting when everyone seems to know what they're doing, and you arrive thinking people expect you to have all the answers. I had to remind myself that no one expected me to know everything from the start," she explains.
Athena works as a project engineer in DOF.

By engaging in both onshore and offshore work, Athena can track projects from conception to execution, enriching her professional expertise and personal experiences.

"I feel very lucky because our team gets along well, both on and off the job. We feel at ease sharing our opinions and exchanging ideas. Everyone listens to each other, so it's really good," she says.
